"She's a Great Singer"

And, so it begins. Today, we received an ad with Hanna Montana on it. Jaden says, "Can I hang that picture in my room?". I couldn't believe he said that! Of course, I said, "No!". I said, "You don't like her that much, do you?". He replied, "She's a great singer! I like her songs." How innocent and cute! And, no, it is definitely not being hung in his room!

S-A-T spells Bat!

I bet you didn't know that! I thought I would share a little video of how our reading is going. (slow!)

Math is going great! Jaden is doing really well. He doesn't quite understand when the big hand on the clock is at the 6, it has been 30 minutes. I don't really understand that either! LOL

We made a couple of crafts today, and someone is going to get one of them in the mail! He learned how to mail something today. He was very excited about that!

Another storytime

Wow, the weeks just keep flying by. I have a feeling this year is going to go by fast. Yesterday, we made our trip to Terre Haute and enjoyed spending time with my parents and going to church. Today, the kids and I went to story time. Jaden had a great time as always. I stopped at Lowe's and looked at some paint samples. I think I am finally settling on a color. It is between two at this point:

Eddie Bauer Bamboo
or
Eddie Bauer Barley

I never thought it would take me this long to pick out a living room color. I really liked the bungalow gold in our old house, but I need to try something new. I think this color will also look good in our kitchen.
This weekend, we plan on getting some window shades. I might even get some more curtains.
Now, it is time to do Jaden's schooling and read him some books. I would also like to get some cleaning done.
Have a great week!

Signs

(blogger is acting up, so I hope this turns out okay!)
We put up Jaden and Cassidy's door signs today. They look so cute up there!

We, also, got a gate on the stairs! It makes life so much easier! It even has a light on it! The kids and Maddy do not like it much!

We decided to have "school" today since we missed a day last week. Today, Jaden learned about the short sound "u" and learned how to read "pup". He is finished his adding and subtracting up to the sum 7 and now, is starting to tell time. How exciting! He is very excited about telling time.
I hope everyone has a great weekend. We will be making the trip to Terre Haute again tomorrow!

Another storytime

The kids and I ventured out in the cold to story time today. It was another great time! Cassidy played with puzzles while Jaden listened to the stories. They also played some games. Only one other kid showed up!
I have found another woman who is going to be using the same homeschooling curriculum as me. This is so excited. We plan on getting the kids together. I also thought this would be a great way to start field trips. I am so excited at the thought of getting Jaden involved with other homeschoolers!
Tomorrow, I plan on grocery shopping. Jeff will be off, so who knows what we will get done. I want to get a hole drilled in the top of the kitchen cabinets, get the kids' signs on their doors, and get some more of the office finished.
As of now, I am looked forward to the debate tonight on MSNBC!

bummed

Well, the refrigerator didn't work out. I think that sellers were a little shady about a leak. We were hoping for a really good deal. :(
So, we will keep looking.
Today was a long day. I am trying to find ways for Jaden to work off some of his energy. We might go to the library tomorrow, as long as it doesn't snow much tonight.
I am coming closer to a decision on paint color for our kitchen and living room. It is hard to find a paint color that I would like in both rooms.
I hope everyone is having a good week.

Refrigerator

Tonight, we will be going to check out a black refrigerator. I really want to get one in the kitchen. I can't stand that little white refrigerator in there. We still have a white stove we need to sell!
Today, I tried to do Jaden's schooling in the morning and it seemed to work out better. He has such a hard time paying attention. Mornings might just be a better time for him. This morning he learned about the short vowel E. He even read a couple of words. It was amazing!
Cassidy is saying so much more. She even says Shaggy and Scooby! Her favorite thing is to repeat everything you do. Especially sighs and yawns. Last night, she played Simon says with us. That was great! She is becoming a little toddler!
My weightloss has not been going so well. I gained over the holidays and now I am having hard time getting back on track. My treadmill is finally all set up and I have started running on there again. I have started doing some exercises with Jaden everyday also.

Lighting

Wow, all that has been on my mind today is the lighting in the kitchen. I can't stand the fluorescent light and the big globe above my sink. I have been trying to decide what I would like in there instead. I was thinking of putting a pendant light over the sink like this one:

Then, I was thinking some kind of chandelier or 2 pendants in the kitchen. Well, now I am thinking of putting recessed lighting in there with a pendant over the sink! So many decisions.....

Another shopping day...

Well, I mostly looked, but I did get a few things today. I am so excited about the many stores around me! Today I went to Old Time Pottery, Value City, Target, Home Lumber, and Sofa Express. I had so much fun. I only purchased a few things including this pillow:

I just love it. It is so great to come up with a color scheme you like and then, find so many things that match! I just love it! I also found some towels and bathroom items this color. So, I have decided to do our downstairs bath in these colors also!
Tomorrow, we will be heading to Terre Haute again in the freezing cold. I also plan on picking up a stair gate to keep Cassidy off of the stairs.
Have a great Sunday! God bless.

Shopping

Wow, I had a great time today. Well, besides the headache and the kids driving me crazy. I went to one of my favorite places in the whole world! Pottery Barn! I just loved going in there. It is like stepping into the page of a catalog. I did pick up a couple of things. I love this leaf:

I picked up some curtains today for the dining room. We still need shades for the room, but I am loving the curtains.

We looked for shades tonight, but didn't see any that really caught my eye, or that were the right size. We might need to order them.
I also got a plate for the top of the cabinets. Still not sure where I should put it up there!

Our first playdate

We had our first playdate with several other mommies yesterday. We had a great time. Jaden needs to learn how to play with others a little more. I hope we can get together with them every week.

Being "Rotten":
Today, Daddy and Jaden shoveled the snow. Notice Jaden's idea of getting the snow off of the driveway compared to Jeff's! Too funny!
Afterward, we sat down for school time. Jaden loves his math.
Then, we did a butterfly craft:
I have all of the colors picked out for our bedroom, formal living room, and the formal dining room. I can't wait to start incorporating them in. We plan on buying some window coverings tomorrow.
These are the colors for the formal living and dining room:

Stampin Up night

Today, the kids and I went to Terre Haute to visit my parents and for my Stampin Up workshop. I just love going. The new catalog has come out and there are so many things I want! So, I started with three of them tonight. I am loving these:

Cassidy's Room

We just got back from story time at the library. One of the women there gave a book of all of the activities around for kids. I am so excited. There are so many things to do. And, the prices aren't bad.

Yesterday, we went to church and visited with my parents. I am really happy that we plan on going there every Sunday.
Cassidy's room is almost finished, other than the paint. Of course, I plan on going with green on her walls again. Her room looks so different with white walls. I can't wait for the paint.

A scrapbook page!

I got most of the boxes and totes empty in the "office". We don't really have a desk yet, so I only have a fold out table and two small dressers in there. It is not really an office. I have my treadmill and workout equipment in there, my scrapbook stuff, and all of our files and bills. So, it is mainly just an extra room. I can't wait to start decorating it! I want to get very creative in here, since I really have nothing I have to make FIT in the room. I can go with any color and style! Very exciting!

Here is my work area (as of now), the floor!

I finished a scrapbook page today. It has been a very long time. I can't wait to get back into it.

Progress...

We have made progress. I caulked the edge of the kitchen counter and wall today. That really needed to be done. It looks so much nicer. We need to do some more caulking work, but atleast the kitchen caulking is done.
I unpacked a lot of boxes in the office today. I should be able to begin scrapbooking tomorrow. We really need to get some bookshelves. We never really had the room for them. Now, we need them in the playroom and office. Next Friday, I plan on shopping for some window coverings. I can't wait! Although, I am feeling a little overwhelmed about it.
Other than that, we haven't done much today. I hope to get all of the office done tomorrow.
Have a wonderful Friday!

The kitchen

There is so much we need to do to the kitchen to get it exactly the way we want it. It will take some time. But, there are some small and cheap things we can do. I would like to get a black coffee pot and some more things above the cabinets. I just threw some things I had up there, and I really want some different things. I would like to get another rug in front of the refrigerator and I would also like to get a different phone (one that hangs over the phone jack). We plan on getting a pendant light to hang over the sink and change out the ugly fluorescent light in the middle of the room. I will be getting a black, round trash can very soon!

Some of the big things we need to get done are: get a new BLACK refrigerator, put in wood laminate, and get new counter tops. That will come with time. I also need to add some paint. Right now I am pretty clueless as to what color I will go with.
Hopefully, the next time I post a picture of the kitchen, I will have some of the things I mentioned finished!

Library and getting back on schedule

Today, we decided to take it easy and relax. We took Cassidy and Jaden to the local library. It was awesome. We showed up just in time for Story Time. There was a woman there with another four year old boy and she started talking to me. She seemed really nice. She is a regular to story time, so we will see her a lot. We loved the library. It is so centered on kids! There is also a program in Marion County where your preschooler gets a free book in the mail every month until they turn five. That is so cool. There is also a rubber stamp workshop coming up in January.

We are starting to get back on a schedule. Cassidy has been getting her naps at 1 again and Jaden started back on his preschool books today. We are planning on getting Jaden involved in soccer by the end of this month. We found a couple of great soccer associations here.
We planned on walking around the neighborhood today but is was sprinkling and time just got away from us.

The weekend is over

Today, Bill and Kathy (Jeff's brother and sister in law) came over to check out our new house. We spent some much needed time with them. We don't see them very often. We ate pizza and enjoyed playing with the kids. Also, Bill helped us get the treadmill and piano into the house. That was nice! (I hope his toe isn't broke, LOL)

Afterward, Jaden and I sat and played with his new Lite Brite. He loves it! I remember playing with one when I was a kid.
Now, it is time for some rest and tomorrow we are taking the kids to the library.
Have a great week!
I just love this picture:

Overwhelmed and Tired

I have been so tired. I went to bed at 8:30 last night and woke around 7:15 this morning. I really needed that! I have so much energy today. I have felt so overwhelmed and I am ready for some down time. We have had visitors, and this weekend is no exception. Jeff's brother and wife are coming over tomorrow.

Jaden and Cassidy love their new playroom. It has been a real lifesaver while I take a shower. I am so happy to have that room!

I am hoping to have some pictures for everyone soon. I really have a blank slate to work with. We plan on painting later, so all of these drab walls will have to do for awhile. I absolutely have fun decorating! I can't wait to dig in.

I am loving the fireplace:

We have so much work to do!:

Christmas Pictures! (finally)
